Exams
and Revision
Rather
than as a wholly new beginning. Therefore your lecturers and supervisors
will expect you to have completed an undergraduate training similar
to that described in the previous four chapters. You will be expected
to be competent in the academic skills and study habits we have
outlined there. If you are enrolling
Graduate
Diploma or a Master's degree by coursework ,
then the explanations of teaching and learning styles which we have
given in those chap ters will be relevant to the ways in which you
will be studying though now you will be working at a more advanced
level. If you are enrolling for a research thesis-based
degree, however, there will be significant shifts in your
approach which we will examine.
Let
us now look at the various diploma and degree courses available
at postgraduate level. First we have set out in a chart the relationship
between the various courses, and then we explain each degree programme
in greater detail.

and degrees
In
Australia it is common for students to work their way through the
degree levels without a break. Some postgraduates may also work
as tutors while completing their PhD. The Asian pattern of teaching
or working for some years between each degree level is not so usual
m Australia .
