Try to arrange a discussion among colleagues who have already undertaken
postgraduate studies overseas. Questions that you might raise include:
- What problems
did your colleagues meet in adapting to the system of postgraduate
studies in a foreign setting?
- How did
they find the amount and level of academic work compared
with their previous experience at home?
- How would
they explain the advantages and disadvantages of coursework
degrees and hesis degrees?
- How far
have their experiences in studying for their post graduate qualification
overseas been relevant to their teaching and research on return
to your country?
(If
it is difficult to arrange such a discussion, you may at least be
able to interview your teacher of English or some foreign academic
staff to discuss their experiences of study abroad in contrast to
study within your own country.)
