MORE TO THINK ABOUT

  1. Draw up a diagram of advanced degree courses offered at universities and colleges in your country. Compare this system with that of Australia , as outlined in this chapter, or of the country in which you plan to study. (When you go abroad you will find it useful to be able to explain, clearly, the similarities and differences between the two degree systems.)
  2. If possible, glance through a Master's or PhD thesis written by colleague or fellow student while studying at an overseas university or college. Then compare what you find with thesis written in your own Department.

Discuss with a fellow student any differences you notice in:

  1. Length,
  2. Structure,
  3. The kind of data used and the manner of presentation,
  4. Style, and
  5. Format.
